Lenten Blog Week Two: Forgiveness
Four week Lenten devotional leading up to the celebration of Easter –
Our hope in creating this devotional series is to come alongside you during this Lenten season as we think about God's great design for us and His merciful salvation through the gift of His Son.
We encourage you to use this devotion as your focus for the week. Read the prayers, meditate on the Scriptures, respond to the prompts. Come back to this devotion daily for a week and see how you can apply these truths each day.
our focus this week: forgiveness
PRAYER OF PRAISE
Hebrew Name for God: El·Deah /el day-ah/ noun The God of Knowledge
You are wisdom and knowledge far beyond understanding. You know what has happened in the past and what will happen today. You perceive all things in the future, great and small. Even I am searched and known by You. I praise You for loving me in my sin, continuing to pursue me in my weakness, and being the source of all knowledge that I need.
Scripture to meditate on: Proverbs 1:7 Romans 11:33-36 Psalm 139 Romans 5:6-8
PERSONAL PRAYER
purity of heart
I confess there are thoughts, words, and actions in my life that cause me to stray from You and Your holiness. By Your grace and mercy, forgive my sin. Renew my mind and purify my heart that I may confidently draw nearer to You.
Scripture to meditate on: 1 John 1:9 1 Peter 1:14-16 Hebrews 4:14-16 James 4:8
application
Although we still sin, God continues to love, forgive and pursue us because of Jesus' sacrifice.
prompts
Praise God for His constant forgiveness of your sin.
